The Job Fair was held on December 19, 2024, at Agalon Beach Resort in Poblacion, Albuera, Leyte. The event aimed to facilitate employment opportunities for the poor, unemployed, and displaced workers by providing a venue where jobseekers could directly connect with employers and recruitment agencies. It also supported employers in sourcing manpower and contributed to anti-illegal recruitment campaigns.
The fair was attended by various stakeholders, including local employers such as Megaship Builders Inc., SMC Integrated Farm Specialist, Inc., Pryce Gases, Inc., Jesca Design and Build, and DBSN Farms Agriventures Corporation. Recruitment agencies for overseas employment included Maanyag International Manpower Corporation, Mardel International Management and Services, Inc., and Ascend International Services, Inc. Government agencies such as PESO Albuera, DOLE WLFO, OWWA Ormoc, and SSS Ormoc also participated.
Several activities and services were offered during the event. These included employment facilitation assistance, which involved registration and matching of jobseekers with employers; employment information assistance, which provided details on job vacancies and requirements; and social protection information assistance, with representatives from SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-Ibig Fund offering guidance.
The general procedure followed during the fair included the registration of new applicants and verification of previously registered ones, selection of job vacancies by applicants, and the provision of welfare services and social protection information by the respective agencies.
In conclusion, the Job Fair successfully achieved its objectives by creating a platform for jobseekers to engage with potential employers and recruitment agencies, offering various employment and training opportunities, and supporting the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents. The event was well-received, and valuable feedback was collected to enhance future job fairs.
